Jessica Hinojosa
Kankakee fire officials pulled the body of Jessica Hinojosa out of the Kankakee River this morning more than one month after the Kankakee woman's car was found in the river about a mile upstream.
The body was first spotted just before 10 a.m. by security guards at Presence St. Mary's Hospital and fire officials were able to recover the body near Alpiner Park on the city's west side.
Eric Cavender, chief deputy coroner for Kankakee County, said a family member ID'd Jessica's body and an autopsy is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Jessica Hinojosa went missing on Feb. 15, days before her 26th birthday, and her car was discovered inside the river south of East Avenue on Feb. 16. A monthlong search as far downstream as Custer Park had proven fruitless so far.
